The Gender and Peace Academy for Youth (GPA-Y),
an initiative by the Gender, Peace, and Development Centre (GEPaDC), empowers
young people to become leaders in gender equality and peacebuilding.
Through a combination of education, capacity
building, advocacy, and hands-on experience, GPA-Y aims to:
Educate youth on the links between gender
equality and peacebuilding, with a focus on the Women, Peace, and Security
(WPS) agenda and conflict resolution.
Develop leadership skills by offering training
on conflict mediation, negotiation, and gender-sensitive peacebuilding
practices.
Engage youth in advocacy by supporting campaigns
for gender justice and youth participation in peace processes.
Encourage community action through youth-led
peace projects and real-world engagement in conflict prevention and
post-conflict recovery.
GEPaDC’s academy strengthens youth participation
in peace and security efforts, promotes gender-responsive policies, and fosters
inclusive peacebuilding practices at local, national, and international levels.
