Humanitarian and Emergency response

Humanitarian and Emergency response

As part of its thematic focus on humanitarian assistance, early recovery, and development interventions, GEPaDC is actively integrating protection into its programs to ensure that the most vulnerable populations—particularly women, children, and marginalized groups—are safeguarded against violence, exploitation, and abuse. Below is an overview of GEPaDC’s ongoing activities across key sectors:

Protection (GBV and Child Protection Prevention and Response)

GEPaDC is committed to preventing and responding to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Child Protection issues through a comprehensive approach. This includes raising awareness on GBV and child rights, establishing safe spaces for survivors, providing case management services, and offering psychosocial support and legal assistance. GEPaDC works closely with local communities and service providers to build child protection networks and ensure that vulnerable individuals have access to necessary resources and care.

Health Mainstreamed into Protection

GEPaDC integrates health services into its protection efforts, ensuring that GBV survivors and children at risk have access to essential healthcare. This includes post-rape care (PRC), mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) services, and sexual and reproductive health services. GEPaDC also provides health screenings for vulnerable populations to identify cases of malnutrition, abuse, and trauma, ensuring appropriate referral to child protection and GBV response services.

Nutrition Mainstreamed into Protection

GEPaDC’s nutrition programs address the needs of vulnerable women and children through malnutrition screening and the distribution of nutritional supplements. The organization focuses on infant and young child feeding (IYCF) practices and raises awareness about the importance of good nutrition, especially in emergency contexts. GEPaDC also provides safe nutrition spaces where women and children can receive both nutritional support and psychosocial care, ensuring their protection and well-being.
